| Pond Matters
Now Summer is here your fish should be feeding well. If your water temperature
reaches 30c (86f) do not feed your fish..
You can feed your fish twice or even three times daily as much as they
will eat within a few minutes at 16-29c (61-85f). Always remove any un
eaten food. Filters will need to be checked regularly you need to
circulate at least half the volume of your pond through your filter every
hour.
Remove any decaying leaves regularly try to aim for 2/3 of the surface
covered with plant leaves Lilly's and water hyacinth are good for
this, although water hyacinth is not frost hardy and should be removed before the autumn and replaced with new ones late spring.
If you have blanket weed and you don't want to use treatments use an old cane and twist the blanket
weed around it and pull it out, be careful not to pull any baby fish out .
With the Problems of algicides affecting plant growth we recommend using pond balance,
Blanc-kit Excel or ecotreat clarity to prevent blanket weed, these are both safe to use without affecting
plants, fish and wildlife. These products must be used regularly and take time to work because they correct the problem by starving the algae not killing it instantly as with
algicides.

Cats and Dogs
You should worm you animals at least every 6 months, this keeps them more
healthy, the
transmission of parasites such as fleas and prevents your children getting them which can cause blindness.
One dose wormers are available in three sizes, from puppies to large dogs.
Fleas are more prolific during the summer months treat with a spray powder or
drops once a month. If there any signs don't forget to spray the bedding and
places were they lay with a house hold spray or powder. The new veterinary
strength Bob Martin fleas tablets are out for cats and dogs, it starts killing fleas in
15 minutes and are all dead in 24 hours, use Bob Martin Flea drops to prevent
Re-infestation.
New anti bark collar is now available which will vibrate or emit a high frequency sound available in two sizes small and large with the large version having different output settings. Even a electronic cat flea collar is now available from the people who
make the Dog bark Train collar.
If your dog eats his food too quick then the new Animal Instincts Slow Feed Bowl may be your answer available as medium, large or jumbo.

Tropical fish
New improved tetra Easy Balance with Nitrate Remover use once a week
and only need to do a water change once every six months. The product also
reduces phosphate levels and improves plant growth available in two sizes

Small Animals
Rabbit and Guinea Pigs are ok to be moved outside now. Give them plenty of hay,
straw or paper bedding to burrow into to keep warm on cold evenings they would appreciate
a run put on the grass as grass is a good form of vitamin C. Give them cardboard
tubes and other toys to keep them amused and treats to wear their teeth down.
Chickens are now very popular if they are left to roam free in the day
remember to put them in their run before dusk then lock them in the house when
they have gone to bed to stop Mr. Fox. Feed your chickens layers pellets with
plenty of water available and a bowl of grit to help them digest their
food.
